Sign of aging?

My birthday gift from Vincent has arrived yesterday - an iPod nano. I went to Simon's computer immediately to pick my favorite songs. After listening to hundreds of songs, I realized that most of the songs I picked were the "oldies" from the 90's: Faye (of course!), Jacky, Cheung, Andy Lau, Grasshopper, Cass, etc.

That reminded me when I was in secondary school, I liked listening to the pop music and tried to persuade my dad that they were better music than those by Tsui Siu Fung or Adam Cheng but he insisted that his "golden oldies" were too good to even compare! To me it was just the "middle-age syndrome" and I promised myself that when I grow old, I'll keep up with the trends, I'll listen to what the young people listen, I won't wear outdated clothes, etc.

After all these years, I started to understand my dad's theory. The songs from our decade were the best because they represented the best years of our lives. Young spirits appreciate everything, especially new things, they are something that other generations have never experienced. Our minds are open, our souls are energetic, we're ready for any kind of life adventures. We believe technologies advance everyday so everything must be better than before. When we get older, we realize that those good old days are gone forever but our memories will always remind us the sparkles in our lives.
